Baked Salmon Recipes
Salmon is not only a succulent but also a versatile and inexpensive meat that taste really good when you cook it correctly. You can either use salmon as a satisfying main course or a quick family meal on week nights. In fact, you don't need to waste time simmering special sauces because of its deep natural flavors.
One of the biggest mitakes that most people make while preparing salmon is to overcook it. This is very bad because overcooking your salmon will make it dry and less delicious. You can easily tell when your salmon is cooked just by look at the color. When it turns from translucent to opaque (which is usually white), this is the very moment when it flakes so be sure that you stop cooking it.
Ingredients:
- 1 can pink salmon
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- milk
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup corn flakes, crushed and divided
- 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
Instructions:
1. First of all, drain the salmon but reserve the liquid for later use. Add just enough milk to the salmon liquid until you get a cup of liquid.
2. Preheat the saucepan and melt the butter over low heat. Add in the onion and stir fry it until tender.
3. Add in the flour and continue stirring until everything is smooth. Let it cool for a minute while stirring it constantly.
4. Gradually add in the milk mixture earlier and cook it over medium heat. Be sure to stir it constantly until the mixture is bubbly and thickened.
5. Now stir in the salt and pepper and set aside.
6. Skin and bone the salmon then flake it with a fork.
7. In a large mixing bowl, add in the salmon then add in the mixture earlier. Now mix in the lemon juice, corn flakes and white sauce. Combine and stir well.
8. Cover and refrigerate it until chilled.
9. Shape it into croquettes and roll in the remaining corn flakes.
10. Place the croquettes on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake it for 30 minutes at 400°F (204°C)
11. Serve and enjoy!
